Switching from smoking: the counter talk

Thinking about jacking in the fags? This is exactly what we'd tell you if you walked up to our counter, written down so you can read it at your own pace.

What to buy first

Keep it simple. A little pod kit and a couple of bottles of nic salt liquid. That's the whole setup. A proper starter kit here is about £25, the Gotek range is what we hand most people, and 10ml nic salts are £2.50 a bottle. No big cloudy mod, no coil maths, no £80 mistake.

Buy two or three different flavours in small bottles rather than a stack of one. The flavour you think you'll love is rarely the one that gets you off the fags, and tobacco flavour isn't compulsory. Plenty of our best switchers started on something daft like blue raspberry and never looked back.

What strength?

Nic salts are what disposables use, so if you've ever had one of those, you already know the feel. Smooth, quick, no scratchy throat.

What it costs

A pack a day at about £15 a pack is over £100 a week, north of £5,000 a year. Once you've got the kit, most of our regulars spend about £3.50 a week on liquid. Coils or pods every week or two on top, a couple of quid. Even counting the kit, you're in profit inside the first week.

The first fortnight

Be honest with yourself: the first few days feel odd. Your taste buds wake up, you might cough a bit as your chest clears, and the vapour feels different to smoke. Give it a proper two weeks before you judge it. If you're struggling, come back in, that's what we're for. Usually it's a strength tweak or a flavour swap, not the whole idea being wrong.

Rather just talk to someone?

Ring or WhatsApp us on 07429 202011, Monday to Saturday, 12pm to 7pm. Ordering by phone is fine, plenty of people do their first order that way. We'll spend as long as it takes, half an hour on the phone getting you set up properly is time well spent in our book. Or pop in: 287 Dickson Road, Blackpool.
